Babatunde Oladeinde Williams

Babatunde Oladeinde Williams is a seasoned leader whose influence spans active politics, labour relations, public administration and community development. With a career rooted in service and strategic engagement. He has consistently demonstrated expertise in conflict resolution/ establishment matters, stakeholder management, and policy implementation across both government and trade unions.

His political journey began in 1989 as Assistant Secretary of the Social Democratic Party in Iwaya Ward J. He went on to serve as a two-term Councillor and Leader of the House in Lagos Mainland Local Government, later became the Acting Chairman of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM), Lagos Mainland. In Year 2008 to 2010, he served as Vice Chairman of the Yaba Local Council Development Area, strengthening governance structures and community participation.

His credibility in labour administration led to high-level appointments in Lagos State, including Senior Special Assistant and subsequently Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters across multiple tenures between 2018 and 2023. These roles positioned him at the centre of Government/ Labour relations, negotiations/ meetings with industrial unions and other stakeholders on improve welfare and working condition of employees of the state government to guarantee industrial harmony in the state.

Before his foray into senior political leadership, he built a distinguished career in the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria from 1981 to 2003. Rising from clerical officer to State Secretary, he also served for nine years as spokesman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council in Lagos State, Zonal Secretary for the Western zone and later at the union’s national headquarters in Abuja.

He currently serves as a Permanent Board Member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), where he brings his wealth of administrative experience, conflict-management expertise, and passion for community development into driving improvements in basic education across the state.

Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from Lagos State University and has earned professional certifications from MINILS, TEXEM London, CIArb, CMC, and IMI London. His competencies span project management, leadership, negotiation, and mediation. A recipient of the “Most Outstanding Labour Personality” Award, he is celebrated for his commitment to industrial harmony and for fostering the next generation of leaders.

His career reflects unwavering dedication to public service, institutional growth, and the advancement of Lagos State and Nigeria.
